Pack 109 - More Updates - 4/16/2024

Totally forgot about two awesome events!

THIS SATURDAY....Join us for breakfast at Woodland UMC anytime from 7am to 10am. $10 adults (3 pancakes and 2 sausages) and $5 kids (1 of each) gets you pancakes, sausage and fruit. Not only will you satisfy your craving for delicious pancakes, but you'll also support our leaders in their efforts to attend the Wood Badge training program. Your participation directly contributes to empowering Scout Leaders and enhancing their skills and improving the overall scouting experience. So join us for a morning of pancakes as we stack up support for our leaders and scouts!

May 4th Woodland UMM invites you to a Winthrop Baseball Outing for both Woodland and Scout Families. This will be Saturday, May 4th at 3PM at the Winthrop Ballpark. Tickets will be General Admission (open seating) and will cost $8 each. Those who sign-up will receive their tickets at the Winthrop Ballpark, where Woodland will set up a canopy, between 2 & 2:30 PM May 4th. Pack 109 Updates - 4/16/2024

Hello Scout Families! We are quickly approaching the end of the official scout year! Make sure that you are in contact with your den leaders to know if your scout has anything they need to work on to catch up. We still have a few scouts that are working on earning their rank. The final order for belt loops and awards will be entered on May 13th so that is your deadline. Here are a few updates to look forward to.


Monday, April 22 - EARTH DAY!!! - We are changing our Pack meeting to here so that we can celebrate! We will have a guest speaker, or two, to discuss conservation. We will follow this up by collecting trash as a unit around the church and nearby businesses/neighborhood. This time will count towards a conservation project if you are looking for that for one of our awards.

April 29, May 6, May 13 are regular den meetings.

May 10 - 12 is our Spring Campout at Chester State Park. To register to go fill out this form: https://forms.gle/WBSw3NSSxELUyEH78 Charges will be applied to your troop web host account soon after registration. Total cost for all meals and camping will be $23 per person. Dens and respective parents will be responsible for one meal which includes menu, prep, cooking and clean up. I will manage the grocery shopping. Details in form for more explanation.

Sunday breakfast - all (usually leftovers, cereal and fruit)

May 20 is our Spring Picnic. We will celebrate our last meeting of the summer with hotdogs and burgers provide by Woodland UMC. Each den will organize sides to share with each other and with our cooks from Woodland. Your den leaders will have more info on that. This is also our last chance to present rank awards to our scouts. At the end of the meeting our scouts will officially "Rank Up" to the next level in scouting! June 1 starts the next scout year for them.

June 13 - 15 is our Resident Summer Camp at Camp Durant! To register: https://ocscouts.org/events/cub-scout-summer-camp-6-13-24/
Price is $100 for the first scout and then $50 if you have a sibling or a second scout attending. Scouts must be a Tiger or above to attend. Remember that when you register your scout they will be at the next rank for summer camp. So if you have a current Lion, they will be a Tiger by summer camp so that is what you put on registration. You must be a registered leader as an adult in order to attend and the cost is $30. Please send me a copy of your receipt that you will get by email after registration is complete. That way we can be sure everyone going gets the correct information.

June 17-21 is the York District Day Camp. Check-in on June 16 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Bethelwoods. This check-in is for medical form turn-in, t-shirt pick-up, etc. Attendance for check-in is mandatory for your scout to participate throughout the week. Camp meets daily from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (Sessions will run from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm). All campers MUST be picked up by 5:00 pm each day. All Cub Scouts in the York District who are rising 1st through 5th graders (no rising lions) **PLEASE NOTE** Rising First Graders (current Lions) will need an adult partner the entire duration of camp. Howdy! I hope you all are enjoying your spring break! Lots of fun stuff happening when we get back to scouts. Remember we are back to regular den meetings on Monday, April 8.

SuperNOVA Mars Party - April 18 at 630pm at Winthrop University
This is for those members of the SuperNOVA club only that have been working on their awards all year long. Awards will be presented at 6:30pm with reception to follow. Be on the lookout for sign ups to review your progress with your mentor. Please make sure that you have completed all requirements by the end of this week if you plan to receive your award.

Pancake Fundraiser - April 20 in Woodland Gym
Help support our leaders in sending them to required trainings. Our scouts deserve trained leaders and that's what this is all about! Come enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, sausage and fruit. Adults $10 and youth (3-17) are $5 each. Money raised helps our leaders pay for the training courses we need to support your scouts. Did you know that our BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (required in order to take scouts camping) costs $35 per person. Spring Campout at Chester State Park - May 10-12
Sign ups are coming soon for this camping trip. We will meet in time for dinner on Friday night and leave after breakfast on Sunday. Each den will be responsible for planning and preparing a meal but pack will purchase the items. Fee will be max of $23 per
person, which includes two nights camping and 5 meals. We are looking at fun events such as fishing, disc golf, hiking and crafts. If any parents would like to help plan the event let me know!

Last meeting of the year is our Spring Picnic. Woodland is providing hamburgers and hotdogs. Each den will be responsible for organizing side dishes for their den. This is also our last opportunity to present awards to our scouts. If your scout has not earned rank yet, be sure to work on that with your den leader before this meeting.

Summer Camp - Need to get registered!! - 3/15/2024

Hi all! This email is only about summer camp.....with one exception. At Monday's meeting I will be presenting the changes to the Cub Scout program that take affect on June 1. Cub Scouts...get ready to shoot for the moon! Join us for a week of great Scout fun with an "out of this world" twist. Cub Scouts in Space: A Galactic Adventure Awaits! Cub Scouts will enjoy games, outdoor activities, arts, crafts, songs, and so much more!

Volunteer Discount: Campers with a parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle/registered guardian volunteering ALL 5 DAYS of camp will receive a 20% discount for their scout if registered by April 30th. The full price will need to be paid up front when you register your scout and you will be reimbursed the difference at the end of camp. Discount is only valid for one scout per volunteer.

Each Cub Scout and Volunteer will receive 2 free camp t-shirts with their registration. Additional shirts may be purchased for $10 each. Lunch will NOT be provided each day.
